Are there different kinds of building contractors?

Yes. While all construction companies are required by the county, city and/or state to obtain a license that allows them to do residential construction, many companies specialize in one area of the market. For example, a company that build homes, with a few exceptions, may just build homes. Another company may specialize in remodeling and additions, and some companies may narrow that to kitchen remodeling.
